Next February, we bring you an event like no other for couples planning their destination wedding in Savannah, GA.

 Print Engaged in Savannah

As a new approach to destination wedding planning, MG Events will host “Engaged in Savannah” on February 19-21, 2011. The weekend will be a luxurious and informative weekend of activities and wedding planning couples wont want to miss.

“Engaged in Savannah will give couples an opportunity to see the best of what Savannah has to offer, experience the southern charm and luxury that our company focuses on and benefit from a personal planning service to get them started in their planning process,” said Morgan, owner of MG Events.

Based on a detailed survey that attendees will fill out upon signing up for the event, the MG Events team will pick which tour they will participate in. Options might include museums, gardens, ballrooms and historic homes. Trolleys will shuttle couples around to some of Savannah’s finest venues where the best vendors will have the chance to showcase their services.

Each venue will display a mock set up of how the venue can be utilized. Music will play, food and champagne will be served, and photographers will be able to display their work and accompany the brides to document the day. At the final site, vendors will have a chance to answer questions, while couples enjoy lunch prepared by some of Savannah’s finest caterers.

Other events include a mock wedding and fashion show that will showcase how the best vendors in the area plan a wedding, a champagne meet, greet upon attendees arrival into town, and much more!

Destination couples have little time to spend in Savannah planning their wedding as it is. Attendees will walk away from this experience feeling fulfilled and assured that they have seen the best that Savannah has to offer all in one productive weekend.

“We will focus on attracting couples from a lot of the metropolitan areas like Charlotte, Atlanta, DC, New York City, Minneapolis and Columbus. Past weddings in the area show that this is where we see a lot of our destination couples travel from, to marry in our beautiful city,” said Morgan.

MG Events is a luxury wedding planning and design firm serving Savannah and the low country. Having been in business for over six years, MG Events prides itself on quality and experience.

“I wanted to put together a weekend event that would focus on benefiting both our destination couples tying to plan a wedding from out of town and of course our vendors.” said Morgan.

For more information about the weekend, please visit www.EngagedinSavannah.com. All wedding vendors are encouraged to apply to participate and sponsor. Space is limited. If you would like more information on “Engaged in Savannah” and how it might be the right event to showcase your services, please e-mail for more information.

Bridal Show Booth

You know we had a huge bridal show this weekend and so I just wanted to show you a few pictures of our booth and what goodies we had!! Tomorrow I will feature spotlight the vendor that provided the amazing YUMMIES that were the talk of the show! We were going with a luxury garden theme with this years hottest colors! The most frequent question i was asked, was about the chargers we showcased. We pride our selves with innovative ideas and details and as you can see from the table, there were plenty. Our firm designed the entire table and the plates were made with vinyl appliqués. Couples that stopped by were entered for a chance to win a free engagement session or custom fabric aisle runner like the one showcased at our booth. Thanks to Geoff L. Johnson for taking photos of our booth! We cannot wait to work with each and every one of you that signed on with the MGE team!

How to rock a bridal show and get the most for your money!

Bridal Show season is here and Savannah is full of them. There's nothing worse than showing up unprepared or leaving without getting anything out of it. Wedding shows are your chance to meet the most vendors in one place at one time.

So here are some tips on how to get the most out of a bridal show:

no-purse-for-you1. Don't carry a purse: 99% of the time you are provided with a bag to carry around. You are going to be collecting so many giveaways, signing up for so much information or contests, and trying to get your hands on lots of goodies that extra baggage can become frustrating. Try to fit whatever you need in your pockets or ask your mom/friend/groom or who ever is with you to carry your wallet. Once you get your bag, you can always put it in there just make sure not to loose it!

2. Either get there early or just after registration. If you arrive right at the start time, chances are you're going to have to wait in a long line to sign in. If you get there early, you'll be one of the first in line. If you get there a little after the start time, the line will have had time to die down.

3. Go early in the wedding planning process. There are going to be a LOT of vendors there, including coordinators, florists, venues, bakers, caterers, and more. It's a great chance to see and compare multiple vendors at once without making multiple appointments and then you can narrow it down to your favorites.

If you are there to try on dresses, make sure you wear clothes that are easy to get in and out of. Most of the time the dressing rooms are portable. There can be long lines of brides that all want to try on gowns so they want to get you in and out as fast as possible. Being able to dress and undress fast allows you less time in the dressing room and more time in the dress! (A wrap dress is a great option for this, such as this one from J Crew.)

5. Speak to as many vendors as possible. You never know when you could change your mind on something. You may have thought you NEVER wanted a photobooth at your wedding, but once you stop and talk to them, it may open your eyes to new ideas.

wedding cheese spread 6. Go hungry! Caterers will have samples for you to try and don't forget the wedding cake tastings! There will be so many samples to try, even from non-food vendors that you can almost eat a full meal while there!

7. Bring your checkbook! Vendors usually offer GREAT discounts for on the spot booking. What a great way to save money and book several vendors in one day.

Bonus:  If you are in the Savannah area and looking to try out these tips, stop by Savannah Magazine's Bridal Show:
