Savannah Yacht Club Wedding
with a Tybee Island Wedding
Meet Jessica and Brandon. They married on September 20, 2008 on Tybee Island right outside of Savannah, Georgia. Guests came from afar to share in their special day. The grooms father created the beautiful pergola they stood under that morning! I was impressed! They were such an adorable couple and a delight to share in their day! Take a look at some of my favorite moments.....

Where did you meet?
We've lived in the same town for over 8 years and have many common friends but never met. Our paths finally crossed one fateful evening when we both attended a Youth Convention at a local church. Our eyes locked from across the aisle…and the rest is history.
How did he propose?
He proposed 723 feet above Atlanta, Georgia at the Westin Sun Dial Restaurant. The whole restaurant revolves giving you an amazing 360-panoramic view of the Atlanta skyline. After dinner we went to the Observatory View level where we looked through telescopes to see the view of the city. I looked inside the last telescope only to find a sign that read, "Marry Me." When I turned around, Rey was down on one knee with the ring!

Why did you pick the area you are getting married in?
I lived in downtown Savannah while I was going to school at SCAD. I remember seeing so many gorgeous weddings in the squares and I always pictured getting married there. After I met Rey, I took him to visit my "college town" and he fell in love with the city as well!

with Sarah and Andrew
On October 4th, Sarah and Andrew tied the knot in Columbia Square in Savannah, Georgia surrounded by their friends and family. Sarah, Andrew and I spent months planning their perfect wedding day..and from the reaction of their guests and the big smile on their face at the night's end....I think we accomplished it! Sarah wanted to stick with a chocolate brown and apple green color scheme and add little hints here and there of light pink. Here are a few shots of the day. To see more, their wedding is posted on our website gallery.

Where did you meet?
We met through mutual friends. My best friend Clary who went to Clemson invited me to go out with her friend from Clemson Alden and a group of his guy friends. I met Robby that night and we’ve been together ever since.
How did he propose?
It was one of my bridesmaid’s birthdays on May 2nd and we were going to drive to Raleigh, NC to celebrate with her. I got home early from work to pack and get ready for our weekend in Raleigh. I was getting ready and putting things together for the trip when Robby came home from work. He just kept lying around like we had all day to get there. I was getting frustrated with him because I wanted to get on the road to beat traffic. He finally said he’d hop in the shower after he went down to the kitchen for a snack. I continued to get ready putting hot rollers in my hair and trying to make myself beautiful when he yelled up the stairs to me that the sink in the kitchen was leaking. I yelled back downstairs that I didn’t know what to do about it and that he was the engineer so he should figure out how to fix it. After another few minutes he yelled up again that the leak was getting worse and I should really come down and see what was going on. Continuing to get frustrated and thinking I was going to miss my friend’s birthday because of a blown pipe, I trotted down the stairs, hot rollers and all to find Robby on one knee with a ring in his hand. Needless to say I was shocked, said yes, then he whisked me off to a very nice dinner. He’d been in cahoots with my friend in Raleigh the whole time and she knew I wasn’t coming despite the fact that I had talked to her all day long about what we were going to do, where we were going to eat and who all was meeting us out. I thought the ring and dinner were surprise enough but when we got home from our fabulous meal there was a bottle of champagne chilling on the kitchen counter with a note that said we were going to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC for the weekend so I better pack a bag so we could get on the road.

Why did you pick the area you are getting married in?
My mom grew up in Brunswick, GA so St. Simons and Jekyll Island were the only beaches I knew growing up. My grandparents still live in Brunswick for half of the year so we’re down there all the time including every Christmas.

A Signature Drink as Unique as YOU are!
A signature drink is a great way to personalize your wedding and reduce your bar bill by quite a bit! Guests will appreciate the thought you put into creating a great signature drink and all of the goodies that come with it! Take a look at this website for many unique ideas and suggestions! www.stirrings.com
This site has it all:
-
Signature Drink suggestions that match your wedding's color scheme or theme
-
The ability to buy wholesale mixes. Get with your bartender to discuss this option
-
Templates to print labels to make custom stirrers and custom drink menus
-
They have the mini versions of your signature drink mixes that you can give as a favor to your guests and the cute tags with the recipe for the drink to go with it!
TIPS: To those couples who need to keep a tight rein on their budgets:
-
Put a pitcher of cocktails on each table and let your guests do the pouring. (margaritas, sangria, etc)
-
Don't open the bar...try only beer, wine, and a signature drink that you name and tie into the theme of the wedding. Guests will still have the option of an alcoholic beverage at no cost to them (YES IT IS TACKY TO HAVE A CASH BAR) but this will save you loads!
-
How about a Martini/Mojito/Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar at the reception. Put out the mix, alcohol, and garnishes (mint leaves, cherries, limes, and etc) and let your guests mix their own drinks. This is a great way to involve your guests and add a little twist to the bar option!
And of course one of my favorite "Savannah" Drinks:
Chatham Artillery Punch (you can name it anything you would like)
1/2 cup Chambord raspberry
1 cup Triple Sec
1 cup Brandy
2 cups pineapple juice
1 liter of ginger ale
2 bottles dry champagne
Keep an open mind.......

This option also goes for you brides that have purchased one of the dresses and would like to sell it back! Really....are you ever going to wear it again? I used to tell myself that I was going to throw a party for all of my friends to wear their wedding gown, suits, and tuxes again...but truthfully...can we still fit in them? Or are they still in style if we could?
Go ahead save some money!!!!
