How to dress your bridesmaids in my favorite fall trend... metallics!!!

I love a good metallic... now when I say metallic I’m not thinking of sparkly, glittery Ms. America stuff. I’m talking refined, sexy glimmer. Sparkle is for 13 year olds. Shimmer is for a woman. This trend is already being rocked by the red carpets finest, Carrie Underwood, Sienna Miller, Diane Kruger, etc. So basically you don’t have to take my word for it, this trend is here to stay. Look beyond just silver and gold, look for interesting colors like bronze, pewter, brass, even shimmery garnets. And in this case, I don’t think that I would do much mixing and matching, but with the right balance it could definitely work. So here are few of my faves and most of them aren’t bridesmaids dresses. Gasp!!!

metallics.001   Shopbop(all left to right)

DKNY, $212; Oongh by Nanette Lepore, $169; Shoshanna, $365; Shoshanna, $575

metallics.002JCrew

Grecian Moon, $298; Enchante, $170; Leighton, $250

metallics.003Nordstroms & Piperlime

Halston Heritage, $365; Alexander Wang, $450; & 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent, $295

So, as always please be kind to your bridesmaids... don’t make them ugly. That’s totally not cool and then your pictures are full of uggo bridesmaids dresses. Doesn’t make a lick of sense. Being good to your girls pays off with happy friends and great pictures!

Until we meet again, stay bridal and add a little sparkle to your day and trust me your girls will love you!!!!!

Bringing Color into your Wedding Day Attire

There is no reason you cannot bring some color and life into your wedding day attire. It is a great way to show your personality, play off some of your wedding colors in your flowers/decor, great for pictures, and just shows originality. HOWEVER…there are right and wrong ways to do this of course. For instance…this is WRONG! You have heard the saying “Too much of a good thing, is too much of a good thing.” Well this is one of those too much of a good thing instances…

imageimage

Now that you kind of get the picture of what isn’t the best way to go adding color to your wedding, lets look at some great and classy ways to add color:

Simple sash in proportion to your dress and figure. DO NOT GO CRAZY here!image

Maybe a hair piece or flower for your hair:

How about a fab piece of jewelry?

And the easiest and sometimes the most FUN way….the SHOES! It is all about the shoes girl!

This bride pulled off all of the above with style and grace! What do you think?

Future Savannah Wedding: Meet Mary and Andre’

Dre and I at GridironAndre’ Caldwell and Mary Gardner

Date Engaged:

May 28, 2010

Where did you meet?

The University of Oklahoma College of Law.  Dre' was a 2L mentor for Mary's 1L law class.

How did he propose?

Short version *smile*:  Mary and Dre' were on their way to Tishomingo, Oklahoma for a family weekend.  Dre' told Mary that he had to drop off some bar outlines for a friend of theirs so they were going to make a short detour to the law school.  Mary's birthday was two days before; Dre' told her that he had a card he wanted her to read.  Inside the card was a poem.  As she read the poem they pulled up to the front of law school and in the last line, Dre' asked Mary to be his wife.

When is your wedding date?

September 24, 2011

Why did you pick the area you are getting married in?

Dre' is from South Carolina and we wanted to be close enough for his family to drive easily.  We also wanted be in a place that would be enjoyable for out-of-town guests to visit.  As a couple, we are very laid back and easy going.  Savannah was a great fit all around.

Where do you reside now?

Dre' lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mary lives in Amarillo, Texas. In September, Mary will be moving to Dallas, Dre' soon to follow.

We know this day is going to be unlike any! We are very much looking forward to creating the wedding of your dreams at the Ford Plantation!

Featured on Style Me Pretty: Mock Photoshoot: Southern Boy Marries NY Girl Part 2

The Décor: We designed the table around 3 tall vases with submerged tulips and applied black lampshades to mimic the look of a tall. Chic. table lamp. Creating the look of a runner, were some long moss covered containers with beautiful yellow
flowers roses, moss, succulents and twig (amazing job Kiwifleur!) ! Twist grey linens, simmer pink napkins, silver beaded chargers and black place settings with matching glasses finished the look. Sleek white modern chairs complimented the loft feel and the amazing paper design was brought in through the menu cards, place cards, table were named after the trains in the NY Subway system, favor tags, and the cute bride and groom signs with their profiles on them. (By Emma J Design)

Cake: Complimented the layers on her dress and featured 3D sugar paste flowers in their colors. It sat atop a cake pedestal on its own table in front of the many fireplaces the loft contained. Nothing but the best from Two Cakes!

Details: Guests signed postcards of NY and Savannah below a wall scene of the NY skyline, they got to dress up to take pictures in the Photobooth, a lounge area to enjoy the fireplace, signature drinks in their colors accented with rock candy and candy slices, confetti poppers sent the couple off by way of rickshaw in true Savannah Wedding style.
