2011 Color Trends: BRIGHT/BOLD COLOR IS BACK

One of the most popular questions in the wedding world when planning a wedding, is “What are the most popular colors for the year I am getting married in?” After all, this will be the base for a lot of your design decisions. Flowers, bridesmaid dresses, linens, lighting, paper products and so much more!  As a design firm we always strive stay up on the latest trends and one of the most sure fire ways to predict the upcoming year’s colors are to watch the runway shows.

Quite simply put, bright and bold colors are back. I think we are paying homage to the 1970’s and 1960’s and if i stop to think, I remember seeing a number of these little ditties in some form and fashion in my mom’s closet growing up-I wish she would have kept them now! Next year you will see lots of yellows, purples, reds, oranges and some fabulous blues. These colors can be combined in almost any fashion and will rock no matter which combo you pick. AND…another color that seems to creep back in every few years is black. This year both black and gray are hot hot hot! They can act as another predominate color or just a small accent color. Now that is not to say that whites and neutrals are out…they aren't. A lot of designers are  introducing a lot of those colors in their lines again this year. So adding a tan, ivory, white, or grays are A-OK..they just aren't going to be the main focus as they are this year.

With that said we have some predictions for you based on the most fashionable and trendsetting designers:

How to get your bridesmaids in the hottest colors of the season.

blue.003   So, I hate being a slave to trends... who am I kidding!? I love trends! Setting. Breaking. Trying. Failing. I love it all. The glorious thing about fashion is that you literally get to watch the evolution from season to season. You get to see designers imagine, create, and decide what colors and fabrics and styles are having their big moment! It’s sexy! If you don’t have an appreciation for the fashion industry watch “The Devil Wears Prada” again and listen to Meryl Streep give Annie Hathaway a verbal sucker punch when her character scoffs at the difficult design to pick the proper belt. A lot of thought goes into what’s “in” and that, of course, doesn’t mean you have to love it... but chances are you will ;) Okay enough of my soap box. We get it, I like fashion. So, all of that to say we are gonna talk the hot colors which are purple and teal. The purples have evolved from last season and are much more muted and calm. Basically take any shade of purple and add a bit of gray to the coloring. Removing that saturated color creates a really high fashion look. I also find these color flattering on a larger variety of girls. The blues are a little more jewel tone. I think it’s funny that one is duller and one is brighter, but it’s a nice contrast and I think a fun a bold color combo. Jewel tones are flattering to many skin tones as well and I think they just ooze fancy. So here are some of my favorite designers and their take on the season’s hit colors. Enjoy! blue.002blue.004blue.001blue.005

Until we meet again, stay bridal and stay on trend. or don’t. just do what you want. as long as what you want isn’t a hot mess.

Real Savannah Wedding: Joslyn and Spergon Part 3- Reception

Mansion on Forsyth Wedding (9)

The Savannah Mansion on Forsyth Park served as the perfect location for this classy and chic affair. Guests favors were treats from Riverstreet Sweets individually packaged and sealed with their monogram. As a personal touch, Josyln’s mother brought a number of hydrangea blooms from her garden to use to adorn the menu cards at each place setting. The centerpieces arrangements featured leis of orchids and dripping crystals from the tall twigs. Simple yet classy, just like our couple! Thanks again to Allison Reisz Photography for sharing these images and best of luck to our adorable couple! It was an honor sharing in your day!
