what do you do when you don't want to do a plated dinner for your reception {either because your event isn't super formal, or perhaps because you don't want to strain your timeline with a drawn-out dinner} but a buffet doesn't quite fit your expectations either?
food stations {and/or family-style serving dishes} to the rescue!
start out with something like...
a biscuit bar
{via this link}
hush puppies
{via southern weddings}
mini shrimp + grits
{via this site}
move along to an easily passable main course like...
fried chicken {yum}
roast chicken or turkey {pre-carved}
barbeque {pulled pork}
add in a couple sides like...
mashed potatoes
macaroni & cheese
greens
finish up with...
your wedding cake!

stations and/or family-style dishes of passed food are the perfect solution to saving time and money on your wedding reception food. to make it even more unique to your personality and style, use family heirloom china {from both sides of the family for a true union!} or rent a pattern you love.
thoughts? let me know in the comments!

This sounds like a unique wedding reception set-up. I have been used to seeing traditional plated and buffet styles on weddings. This kind of set up is something new to me. My cousin just got engaged and i will be sharing this blog to her.
