{thirsty} THURSDAY :: champagne grapefruit mojito.

some people don't particularly care for champagne, i've found.

i am certainly not one of those people, y'all, particularly when there is cause for celebration!

sometimes bubbly is simply required, and sometimes - just sometimes - it deserves to be fancied up with a little something extra.

perhaps gussied up with some grapefruit, like in the craft cocktail below?

{image via style me pretty}

... um, yes please!

find the recipe for the delicious cocktail above {and nine others!} here.

as always, have a beautiful thursday & XO,

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: halloween, 2013.

happy halloween, my lovely gals and ghouls!

what will you have bubbling in your cauldron while you're passing out candy to trick-or-treaters?

may i suggest...

a dark and stormy death punch?
{complete with lychee + cherry eyeball ice cubes}

{click here for the recipe from food & wine!}

or perhaps a...

ghost in the graveyard?
screwed-up screwdriver?
berry scary martini?

{click here for the recipes from martha stewart!}

p.s.: here's a good brand of spooky black vodka! and no, it isn't licorice-flavored {that was my concern, too - ick}. according to the company,
"The colour of BLAVOD Pure Black Vodka is changed by adding catechu, a herb found in southern Asia and central and east Africa. Rich in tannin, catechu has no effect on vodka's flavour. However, many say it
makes the vodka a little smoother."

happy haunting, lovelies! let me know if you test out any of the cocktails and how they taste ;)

have a spooky day & XO,

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: cocktails in fruit, specifically apple cider in apples.

weird title, i know. but how else do you describe this?

{image and recipe via green wedding shoes}

while this is probably a little too kitschy for some {plus imagine how long it would take to hollow out all the apples you'd need! gah}, the idea is interesting and would be better suited for a small dinner party, or perhaps a spooky fall bridal shower for just a handful of guests.

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: the fig sidecar cocktail.

figs are gorgeous.

that sounds a bit dramatic, i know, but they really are. their hot pink centers fade into a muted, deep purple and are a fabulous addition to any color palette. if you have a fall reception, why not consider incorporating these lovelies into both your color palette and your signature cocktail menu?

check out the fig sidecar cocktail, courtesy of delish:

{image and recipe via here}
here's what delish has to say about the :
"The Fig Sidecar is a Beverly Hills Hotel original. Black Mission figs are infused with Remy Martin 1738 cognac and homemade spiced brown sugar simple syrup for added sweetness. The warmth of the cognac, combined with fresh, seasonal, Black Mission figs makes a perfect combination that's very fitting for the holiday season."

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: chateau patrón.

this delicious drink is perfect for your autumn celebration!

choosing this potent elixir as your signature cocktail will give your guests quite the bang for their buck, so to speak ;)

after a few of these lovelies, your guests will not need to hit up your open bar and will in fact most likely be stuck to the dance floor the entire evening!

recipe {courtesy of the patron website}:

ingredients
1/2 oz patrón silver
1/2 oz patrón reposado
1 oz dry red wine
1/4 oz Riesling
handful of frozen blackberries

method
pour all chilled ingredients in large rocks glass. stir and add frozen blackberries.

sounds noms, no?

have a beautiful thursday!

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: apple cider sangria.

listen up, fall brides - i have just the signature cocktail for you!

apple cider sangria.

{image and recipe via how sweet eats}

this would be utter perfection in any fall wedding.

i'd make it a bride's drink and call it something like,

"the apple of {groom's name}'s eye"

or something equally corny slash adorable.

click here for the noms recipe.

thoughts? comments? suggestions?

you know what to do;)

have a beautiful thursday, all!

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: sparkling whiskey.

we all know that fall = pumpkin spice lattes, obviously.

and while pumpkin-flavored-everything is one of the main reasons we all love fall {and if you don't love it, well - i don't see how that could be true!}, let's please not forget about apples.

i, for one, am particularly fond of apple-picking, or at least the idea of it. that's why the following recipe, which also involves bourbon {clearly one of my favorites}, makes me think of autumn and happiness.

{image and recipe via pinterest from this site!}

mmmm. doesn't that look lovely? you can even use hard cider if you're particularly daring, or add a teensy splash of fireball to that sparkling cider while you're at it;)

XO,

jennifer

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: cherry bourbon lemonade.

though it's still quite toasty down here in savannah, it is apparently fall in other parts of the country. while fall is my favorite season and i find myself always looking forward to cooler weather {perhaps because georgia in summer is a little too humid for my tastes}, i can see why those of you in colder climates {vermont comes to mind} may dread the impending cold.

ergo, i bring y'all a drink to help you cling to those final days of summer:

cherry bourbon lemonade.

{image and recipe via girl in the little red kitchen}

bourbon is such an autumnal liquor, in my opinion; the delightful hint of earthy vanilla, its gorgeous caramel color and its ability to warm your bones when it's chilly out all make it just as fitting for fall as a pumpkin spice latte {!}.

lemonade, on the other hand, is an unquestionably summertime refreshment; light and airy with just the right ratio of sweetness to tartness, it is the perfect warm weather drink.

together, the two are quite the balancing act - a yin and yang, if you will! rounded out with cherry for a fruity shock of flavor, this drink is truly perfect for those days that exist somewhere in between summer and fall, when it's chilly in the mornings but the midday sun beats down just as hot as ever.

click here for the recipe, and if you try it {which you should}, be sure to let me know how you liked it!

as always, have a beautiful thursday.

XO,

jennifer

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: elderflower cocktail.

the ladylike simplicity of this tasty little libation makes it best for a bride's signature cocktail at a wedding reception or at a bridal shower/luncheon, or even your new go-to bar drink.

{via style me pretty}

bonus points if you can find equally pretty little crystal glasses in which to serve it - i'd go for these lovelies from bhldn:

{make it your own} MONDAY :: resource list : kumbuya.

so here's an interesting addition to (y)our repertoire of resources for diy-related wedding goods:

kumbuya.

{image via their site}

this is a site where brides can sell {or buy!} gently-used wedding materials - burlap squares, tea lights, etc. - and all sorts of other goodies at a cheaper price than they would pay for brand new items. to see a sampling of what is offered, click here!

it's also a bit like a combined pinterest/inspiration board grouped in different "communities". the one specific to weddings is called everything wedding & includes cute ideas and links to free printables like...

how to make a paper flower crown cake topper!

these little cocktail cards are both customizable AND a free printable here;)

these table numbers are sweet for a beachside affair & totally doable solo.

aw, i love this idea for a diy photobooth!

so what are y'all waiting for? check it out!

have a beautiful labor day;)

XO,

jennifer

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: avocado daiquiri.

okay, so this drink sounds a little funny - i know. but if you've ever tried incorporating an avocado into a smoothie or even using it as a butter replacement in baking {not that i'm advocating that - butter is my life}, you should know what a creamy, decadent texture it lends to anything this wonderfruit graces.

{image c/o sheri giblin/chronicle books via imbibe magazine}

if you're looking for a signature cocktail that's slightly different but just as delicious as a pina colada {which i feel to which this cocktail is most similar}, head on over to imbibe magazine for the recipe and give it a taste test!

thoughts? let me know in the comments!

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: pear nectar & thyme mimosa.

in search of a refreshing drink with a touch of sassy tartness?

meet the pear nectar & thyme mimosa:

check out the recipe here and please be sure to let me know what you think!

this would be the perfect signature cocktail for a bridal luncheon on a lovely spring day, or perhaps for a daytime brunch reception after a garden wedding ceremony.

i'd call it something cheeky like
"{bride's name}+{groom's name}: the perfect pear"
how adorable would that be?

XO,

jennifer

{thirsty} THURSDAY :: mexican iced coffee.

is there anything better on a hot summer day than a refreshingly caffeinated iced coffee?

i used to think not, guys. especially after having foxy loxy's cold brew {holy GOODNESS that stuff is ridiculously strong}.

but then i discovered....

{via patron's website}

so here's a tip to the wise:

add approximately 1 shot of café patron to your choice of 16oz caffeinated beverage {iced latte, iced coffee, you get the idea}.

toss in the amount of sugar/cream/milk/etc. you would usually include in your coffee and BAM!

mexican coffee.

yes, I just completely made up that name myself, inspired by the name for irish coffee and its inherent linkage to the nationality of the key ingredients {bailey's, jameson = irish}.

but trust me: this stuff is NOMS.

so go ahead, y'all:

treat yo' self!

have a beautiful thursday ;)

XO,

jennifer
