What should a bride think about when picking their wedding dress?

I have three rules to help you know when your gown is "the one":  1 - The gown must represent you and your personal style.  You want to look like "you" on your wedding day, not a model in a pretty dress.  2 - You want to be comfortable in your gown.  Your gown should reflect the look of your special day, but most importantly you need to be able to move and have a great time in your dress! 3 - You want to feel as pretty as you have ever felt before.  You should glow with confidence in the gown you choose!

What makes Bleubelle different than the average bridal salon?

When I opened the salon shortly after getting married myself, I wanted to create "an experience" for our brides based on the way I thought it should be.  Every bride hopes that this is a once in a lifetime experience, and it is such a special time to share with family and friends.  We strive to create a memorable, relaxing, and helpful experience that the bride will remember and cherish forever.  This doesn't stop at the appointment, as we support our brides through the entire process and beyond.

Do they need an appointment?

In order to ensure the very best experience, we do recommend making an appointment, particularly on Saturdays, if possible.  We welcome walk-ins, as sometimes those are the most serendipitous experiences in finding a gown.  If you do make an appointment, we can provide individual, unmatched attention for as long as you would like to play with us!  If you forget to make an appointment, or just happen to be in the area - stop by!  We always find a way to make it work.

Do you have trunk shows?

Absolutely!  This is a great time to see our entire collection of gowns as well as new gowns from our designers, before they have even become available in stores!

What other services do you offer?

We have a sister store, BleuBelle Boutique, for all of our brides special occasion (and everyday) needs, featuring designer denim, cocktail dresses, and easy separates.  Our brides receive 10% off at BleuBelle until their wedding date! Also, we provide our brides with their "Something Bleu" by embroidering their monogram inside their "Something New" - their wedding gown! Also, we have perfected the art of gathering and placing bridesmaids orders.  As the bride, all you need to do is pick the dress and color and give us a list of your bridesmaids' contact information, and we take care of the rest!  We contact each girl with information about the dress, and provide a size chart and sizing form for them to fill out and return to us.  We have ordered dresses for entire bridal parties we have never met!

What is an appointment at Bleubelle like?

Every appointment is different, particularly suited to the bride and her family.  We usually start appointments by getting to know more about the bride, her event, and the details she has in mind.  Then we let her choose as many dresses as she would like to try (we can help narrow it down), and then the fun begins!  We serve mimosas, champagne and/or water for refreshments during the appointment, and we have a great time together helping our bride find "the one!"  We provide everything the bride needs, from shoes to undergarments, so she just needs to bring herself and her ideas!  I would say an average first appointment lasts around 2 hours, and we do not limit our brides with the time they can spend with us.

How long does it take to get my dress?

We highly recommend ordering your gown at least six to eight months before the wedding.  Most gowns take anywhere from 3 - 4 months to arrive from when the order is placed, and we do recommend beginning your alterations around 3 months out from the wedding or portrait date.  We can make any time situation work, as some gowns may be in stock from the designer or we always have great samples available to purchase in a rush situation.  It is always helpful to order your gown as soon as you know it's the one, as it can be a wonderful detail to kick off the rest of your planning!

Do you do the alterations?

We offer a fantastic couturier for alterations on our wedding gowns - Tammy Stoyanova of Precision Alterations.  She can do virtually anything to a gown, from fitting it correctly to making style changes and creating fabulous bustles.  For bridesmaids and Mothers of the Bride/Groom, we have several local options in Savannah that do a fantastic job, particularly Stich! and Sun Alterations.

What should I know before coming to the appointment?

I would say the best advice is to just remember yourself and your personal style, and keep an open mind when trying gowns, especially the first time.  Brides are often surprised with what they like or don't like, and eliminating certain styles by giving them a try just helps to narrow the selection down to your gown!  Also, brides should know that we can accommodate many budgets.  Our gowns range from $595 to over $10,000, with most of our dresses in the $2,500 - $4,500 range.  We truly love to work with a bride on her budget, and we always find a way to make it work when we know the gown is the perfect one for her.
