So, after a very emotional and tender ceremony, the party moved to the ever so beautiful and historic Metts Mansion, for a night filled with dinner and dancing! We set up the reception behind the house in the courtyard area and served cocktails and appetizers in the house and around the front porch in true southern style! Mason jars served as the signature drink cocktail container and doubled their guests table assignments. The tables were named after different people, places and things associated with the era, like the Great Gatsby, Flappers, Algonquin Roundtable, and so forth. Each table had beautiful white spray orchids, that sat in silver vintage vase and were surrounded by jeweled votives for their centerpieces. And who but of course made the cake…..Custom Cakes (YUM)! Atop of the three tier swirled cake was a very appropriate giraffe (Jamey) and bride (Kate) topper. It was SO CUTE! My favorite part of the night thought, was when they did their first dance. It was a surprise…even to me..I had no idea. Kate and Jamey spent months having it choreographed and it was surely something that expressed and portrayed who they were and showed their love for each other. I wish I had a video tape of it…you would see what I mean. Out of all the first dances, this one resonates the most for me. They sat down for an amazing family style dinner and then proceeded to dance the night away for hours with their closest friends and family. Kate and Jamey had some of the most amazing and caring friends and I believe that this is part of why this day was so unforgettable. When you surround yourself with great people who know how to have fun, the rest will all fall into place. Thank you for allowing me to share in your lives then and now. I cannot wait for what the future holds for our friendship! (See you next week for dinner!) :)
